Job Summary
LST Heavy Duty Mechanic II performs intermediate mechanical maintenance, service, and repair of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, forklifts, dollies, company passenger vehicles, and material handling equipment under supervision. Responsibilities include inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing engines, major components, electrical and hydraulic systems, heating/air conditioning, tires, brakes, welding and fabrication; testing equipment via test drives; using manuals and schematics; and performing DOT inspections. Requires 3 years of experience or equivalent trade school, High School Diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license with CDL acquisition if required. Shift is Wed-Sat nights (8:00 PM–6:30 AM); Les Schwab benefits and equal-opportunity employment noted.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- 3 year experience as mechanic and/or trade school with autos or heavy duty vehicles
- Valid driver’s license
- Acquire and maintain CDL, if required for specific working specialty
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical aptitude and diagnosis skills
- DOT inspections within 12 months of hire
- Basic computer skills
- Forklift certification (preferred)
