Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Demonstrate competency in age-specific standards for physical and psychosocial needs, perform testing to evaluate resident status, and recognize problems to recommend solutions during emergent situations. Ensure resident health, comfort, and safety by administering medications as ordered, documenting interactions and outcomes, and counseling families on prevention and treatment plans. Work effectively within an interdisciplinary care team to establish self-care programs and maintain confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Associate degree in practical nursing
- Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum
- Minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board
- Possess multi-state licensure privileges
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
- Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility
- Must be available to work 6 shifts per month
- Must be available to work two weekend shifts
- Must be available to work holiday rotation
- Must be able to work shifts from 6pm-6am
- Must pass a drug screen
- Must pass pre-employment background screening
- Graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum
- Completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred
