Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Demonstrate competency in administering medications or treatments as ordered, performing testing to evaluate resident status, and recognizing problems to recommend solutions for emergent situations. Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents while documenting interactions, medication outcomes, and care plans. Counsel residents, family members, and advocates on prevention and treatment plans under direction. Work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team to establish and maintain relationships with healthcare providers and the public. Maintain confidentiality and complete required annual continuing education and competency training.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Associate degree in practical nursing
- Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum
- Minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board
- Possess multi-state licensure privileges
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
- Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility
- Must be available to work 6 shifts per month
- Must be available for two weekend shifts
- Must be available for holiday rotation
- Must be able to work shifts from 6pm-6am
- Must pass a drug screen
- Must pass pre-employment background screening
- Graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum
- Completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred
