Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Administer medications or treatments as ordered, perform testing to evaluate resident status, and recognize problems to respond effectively in emergent situations. Ensure resident health, comfort, and safety while documenting interactions, outcomes, and care plans. Counsel residents, family members, and advocates on prevention and treatment plans under direction. Maintain effective relationships with interdisciplinary teams and communicate clearly regarding resident education and self-care programs. Work full-time day shifts from 6:00am to 2:30pm, including every other weekend and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Associate degree in practical nursing
- Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum
- Minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board
- Possess multi-state licensure privileges
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
- Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility
- If position requires IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum
- Completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing
- Must be able to work effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to recognize problems, recommend solutions and respond effectively to assist in an emergent situation
- Ability to perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status
- Ability to administer medications or treatments as ordered
- Knowledge of resident education principles to develop a self-care program
- Must be available for every other weekend and holiday
- Must pass a drug screen
- Must pass pre-employment background screening
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred
