Job Summary
The LPN provides essential nursing care on the Skilled Nursing Unit during Night shifts under RN supervision, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with activities of daily living, conducting focused assessments, and contributing to care plan development and documentation. Responsibilities include wound care, catheterization, specimen collection within scope, infection control, patient and family education, and participating in emergency responses. The role supports telemetry duties for cardiac patients, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, ensures safety and regulatory compliance, and supports ongoing staff training and orientation. Requires an LPN (or LVN), BCLS, with ACLS preferred and state-specific certifications as applicable; emphasizes adherence to Nurse Practice Act and professional standards, and relies on strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Required Qualifications
- LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure required or LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
- State-specific ACLS/PALS certifications as applicable by state (per job posting)
- CPR certification within 90 days for certain states
- Nurse Practice Act compliance
- Ability to monitor telemetry and administer medications
