Job Summary
Provide basic nursing care for geriatric residents in a long-term care/rehab setting on a 6:30pm–7:00am shift. Deliver nursing interventions, administer medications (including IV therapy where certified), and document assessments. Participate in care planning and communicate plans with IDT members and residents/families. Maintain safety and quality care, use SBARR for physician communication, and monitor changes in condition. Requires LPN license in California, IV certification or commitment to obtain within six months, CPR/AED certification or commitment to obtain within six months, and ongoing nursing education. Demonstrates critical thinking, strong communication, and adherence to Bethesda policies; may be assigned other duties as appropriate and complete at least 12 hours of nursing-related continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Education from an accredited school of nursing resulting in Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Current LPN license in California
- IV certification required or willingness to obtain within six months
- Current CPR/AED certification required or willingness to obtain within six months
- Ability to assess basic nursing care needs of geriatric residents
- Excellent communication skills; ability to interact with residents, families and staff
- Must possess critical thinking skills
- Ability to document accurately and timely and follow care plans
