Job Summary
Direct the day-to-day nursing activities of LPNs, nursing assistants, and support staff in accordance with state and federal regulations. Manage admissions, transfers, and discharges while overseeing medication administration, charting, and incident reporting. Conduct unit rounds to evaluate resident status, review care plans, and ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols. Provide leadership through staff training, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution. Coordinate with physicians, families, and other departments to maintain comprehensive resident care.
Required Qualifications
- Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants, LPNs, nursing support staff including med techs and nurse techs in accordance with current rules regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
- Manage and direct nursing care and other activities of LPNs and nursing support personnel under the general supervision of an RN.
- Accept the charge nurse position only if prepared to completely perform this assignment based on nursing education or active involvement in education or training for responsibilities not included in the basic LPN curriculum.
- Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN/LVN for the State of Wisconsin.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
