Job Summary
Document all patient care, collect vital signs and history, and prepare patients for surgical procedures and diagnostic tests. Assist the health care provider in determining patient needs, evaluate supplies and equipment, and complete required JCAHO data elements. Recognize risk factors and react appropriately to patient care emergencies under the direction of the medical provider. Maintain current nursing knowledge and communicate effectively with patients, personnel, and providers.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a Licensed Practical Nursing Program
- Current license and registration to practice Practical Nursing in New York State
- Infection Control
- Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations and complete tasks in efficient/timely manner
- Ability to provide required nursing care under the direction of the medical provider
- Ability to communicate/work effectively, verbally and in writing with personnel, patients, and medical providers
- Ability to recognize patient care problems and to react appropriately in patient care emergencies utilizing nursing resources
- Responsibility for nursing self-development and keeping current with advances in nursing knowledge and techniques
Desired Qualifications
- BLS Certification (can be obtained at time of hire)
