Job Summary
Document all patient care and collect vital signs, history, and chief complaints for well patients and those with health problems in an outpatient setting. Prepare patients for surgical procedures, tests, treatments, and diagnostic or therapeutic procedures while assisting the health care provider in determining current and potential patient needs. Complete JCAHO required data elements including domestic violence and pain assessments, and demonstrate awareness of risk factors related to age, size, sensory perception, motor function, and medications. Recognize patient care problems and react appropriately during emergencies. This role supports the Physician Practice team's mission to improve regional health through accessible, patient-centered care in Glens Falls.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a Licensed Practical Nursing Program
- Current license and registration to practice Practical Nursing in New York State
- Infection Control
- Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations and complete tasks in efficient/timely manner
- Ability to provide required nursing care under the direction of the medical provider
- Ability to communicate/work effectively, verbally and in writing with personnel, patients, and medical providers
- Ability to recognize patient care problems and to react appropriately in patient care emergencies utilizing nursing resources
- Responsibility for nursing self-development and keeping current with advances in nursing knowledge and techniques
Desired Qualifications
- BLS Certification (can be obtained at time of hire)
