Job Summary
Obtain medical histories, vital signs, and intake for pediatric patients while performing procedures such as venipuncture, IV insertion, and urinary catheterization. Administer medications via oral, rectal, IM, and IV routes under physician supervision and assist with patient positioning during x-rays. Maintain exam room supplies, sterilize instruments, and conduct monthly quality control checks in the office and lab. Respond to patient emergencies, manage complaints, and ensure HIPAA compliance while supporting urgent care flow efficiency metrics. Requires active state nursing license, BLS certification, and pediatric experience.
Required Qualifications
- Pediatric experience
- Pediatric ER, Pediatric hospital unit, or Pediatrics Urgent Care Experience
- Active state nursing license or active compact state licensure from the state you reside
- Prior experience and competency with nursing procedures (not limited to IV placement, urinary straight catheterization, and medication administration)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Knowledge of medical practice and terminology, clinic's processes, and procedures
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
- Skill in rapid assessment of the critical presentation of the pediatric population
- Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment and act calm in emergencies
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and nonverbally
