Job Summary
Deliver direct patient care, including IV therapy, within the ENT Clinic under the direction of a registered nurse. Manage assigned patients using the nursing process for data gathering, planning, and evaluation while adapting to rapid changes in departmental needs. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and ancillary staff to ensure high-quality personalized care, maintaining strict compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Perform heavy lifting and work in an environment with exposure to blood and hazardous medications. Requires a current LPN license and BLS certification; full-time on-site role at Ochsner Health's ENT Clinic in Louisiana.
Required Qualifications
- Current licensed practical nursing (LPN) license in state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
- Good interpersonal and delegation skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Self directed
- Demonstrate good judgement
- Ability to effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care
- Ability to adapt to rapid change in a positive manner
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all patients, guests, family members and co-workers
- Ability to remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements
- Ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
- Ability to perform heavy work exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to work in an area where patients enter
- Ability to work directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to handle exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Ability to handle exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
