LPN OR Technician / Operating Room Technician

Job Summary
Operating Room Technician (ORT) responsible for serving as primary scrub with instruments, supplies, and equipment before, during, and after surgical procedures. May circulate under direct RN supervision. Must be able to take call for Main Campus OR Services, anticipate surgeon needs, and maintain asepsis. Will mentor and orient new ORTs and assist in education of all ORTs. Competent in basic Endo Tech skills to float between Main Campus and ASC Endo as needed. Primarily stationed at CVPH main campus with assignments to Ambulatory Surgery Center. Requires a high school diploma or surgical technology certification (within 12 months) or NY Licensed Practical Nurse license. Must stand for prolonged periods, be able to lift patients/equipment with assistance, have excellent communication, and work well in a team. AHA-BLS certification required or obtainable within six months of hire, with 15 hours of continuing education annually. On-call as scheduled and pre-employment screening/physical requirements apply.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of a surgical technology school with certification obtained within 12 months from graduation OR a currently Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State
- Meets requirements of pre-employment screening and physical
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with PC operation is preferred
- Must be able to take call as scheduled
- Must be self-motivated and technically adept
- Ability to work independently under stressful conditions
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- AHA-BLS Certified is required or obtain within six months of hire or current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to renewal date
- Excellent customer service skills are required
- Proof of 15 hours of continuing education yearly
