Job Summary
Prepare examination and treatment areas, complete patient rooming procedures including vital signs and data collection, and accurately administer and document unit dose medications or immunizations. Perform EKGs and laboratory testing per CLIA license, ensure accurate patient record documentation, and function as a provider scribe following successful training. Complete assigned clerical activities, supply maintenance, assist with scheduling follow-up care, and distribute patient education materials while directing patient questions to providers or RNs. Work collaboratively in the ambulatory clinic setting to provide direct and indirect patient care.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies
- Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant University or accredited training facility
- Medical Assistant-Certified (MA) by one of the listed certifying bodies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) certification
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification
- American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) certification
- Ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
- 1+ years of Clinical Experience
- 1+ years of Healthcare Experience
