Job Summary
Conduct physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability at the plasma donation center. Build rapport with donors to ensure customer satisfaction while ensuring confidentiality and educating donors on general health and counseling regarding unacceptable test results. Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events, and perform evaluations of illness history or medications to ensure continued donor suitability. Assist in employee training and administer the Hepatitis Vaccine program. Perform duties involving standing and sitting for up to four hours daily, with light lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to biological fluids and extreme cold.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocation Nurse (LPN or LVN)
- Currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements
- Current CPR certification
- Hearing acuity
- Color perception/discrimination
- Near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to handle exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Ability to handle exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to handle exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
