Job Summary
Rooms patients, obtains and documents chief complaint, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and reconciles medications. Assists providers with procedures and examinations, ensuring appropriate documentation. Administers injectable medications and performs treatments within scope and training. Attends to patient and visitor needs, prioritizing acutely ill patients while communicating delays to the team. Maintains medical records, files reports, and completes routine equipment checks and room cleaning. Coordinates referrals, surgeries, and imaging tests, scheduling exams and preparing prescriptions. Acts as receptionist when necessary, handling insurance claims and pre-authorization discussions. Assists with resuscitation and CPR during anaphylactic reactions or code blue events.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from a Licensed Practical Nurse Program registered by the New York State Education Department
- Current BLS/ACLS
- Ability to lift objects weighing 45 pounds or over
- Skill in carrying heavy items weighing 45 pounds or over
- Demonstrated ability to pull objects as required
- Competence in pushing objects as needed
- Capability to reach above shoulder level to accomplish tasks
- Proficient in performing tasks requiring hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
- Ability to walk for approximately 3.5 hours per day during work shifts
- Capacity to stand for approximately 2.5 hours per day to fulfill job duties
- Competence in sitting for approximately 2 hours per day during breaks or administrative tasks
- Capability to kneel as necessary to complete job requirements
- Proficiency in performing repeated bending motions as needed
- Ability to operate motor vehicles
