Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in assisted living under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Demonstrate competency in nursing principles, administer medications or treatments as ordered, and perform testing to evaluate resident status. Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents while documenting interactions, medication outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary needs. Counsel residents, family members, and advocates on prevention and treatment plans under direction. Work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have graduated from an accredited school or college of nursing program leading to licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Requires current licensure as a practical nurse in the state/states of practice
  • Must be able to perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status
  • Must be able to provide the care needed
  • Must be able to recognize problems
  • Must be able to recommend solutions
  • Must be able to respond effectively to assist in an emergent situation
  • Must be able to ensure the health, comfort and safety of residents
  • Must be able to contribute to the assessment of residents
  • Must be able to administer medications or treatments as ordered
  • Must be able to provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed
  • Must be able to document resident interactions as needed and the outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with resident, health care providers, and the public
  • Must be able to work effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team
  • Must be able to communicate clearly
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Must be able to counsel residents, family members and/or resident advocate, under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider or physician on prevention and treatment plans
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of resident education principles to develop a self-care program
  • Must be able to accept a drug screen and pre-employment background screening as a condition of employment

  • Sub-acute care experience
  • Medical/surgical experience
