Job Summary

Assess patients, develop care plans, and implement nursing interventions for patients aged 18 and older on the 30-bed medical oncology unit. Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy, perform head-to-toe assessments, manage IVs and NG tubes, and conduct dressing changes. Provide emotional support to patients and families while maintaining accurate documentation to pass quarterly chart audits. Complete initial assessments upon admission and modify care plans based on continuous evaluation.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
  • Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) licensure
  • Education: Nursing
  • Work Experience
  • Oncology skill set (inpatient chemotherapy and radiation)
  • palliative and end of life care
  • general medical patients
  • head-to-toe assessments
  • start IVs
  • insert NG tubes
  • dressing changes
  • administer medications
  • insert foley catheters
  • Access Mediports and maintain port throughout the shift
  • Maintain documentation standards as evidenced by passed quarterly chart audits
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families
  • Administer Chemotherapy/Biotherapy to patients not only on the Oncology unit but also throughout the hospital
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Valid driver's license
