Job Summary
Conduct pediatric urgent care functions including obtaining medical histories, vital signs, and patient intake while performing procedures such as venipuncture, IV insertion, and urinary catheterization. Administer medications orally, rectally, intramuscularly, and intravenously under physician supervision, and assist with patient positioning and comfort during x-ray processes. Maintain exam room supplies, sterilize instruments, and perform monthly quality control checks in the office and lab. Respond to emergencies, assist physicians with efficiency metrics to improve urgent care flow, and uphold HIPAA confidentiality. Requires active state nursing license, BLS certification, and pediatric experience.
Required Qualifications
- Pediatric experience
- Pediatric ER, Pediatric hospital unit, or Pediatrics Urgent Care Experience
- Active state nursing license or active compact state licensure from the state you reside
- Prior experience and competency with nursing procedures (not limited to IV placement, urinary straight catheterization, and medication administration)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Knowledge of medical practice and terminology, clinic's processes, and procedures
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
- Skill in rapid assessment of the critical presentation of the pediatric population
- Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment and act calm in emergencies
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and nonverbally
