Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Site Administrator/Coordinator, provide nursing services to patients within a correctional environment by delivering care as directed by the Physician. Respond and intervene to all emergency situations, conduct patient intake paperwork, and verify medication orders. Administer medications following nursing standards, complete and document treatments, patient care, and lab collections, and monitor for changes in patient conditions. Assist providers with chronic care clinics and sick call visits, ensure daily nursing tasks are completed within prescribed timeframes, and maintain patient confidentiality. Follow QCHC policies, assist with new personnel orientation, and perform other assigned duties. Current CPR and one year of clinical experience required; correctional health care experience preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an Accredited Vocational/Technical School
  • Current and valid LPN or LVN license
  • Current CPR
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a health care setting as an LPN
  • Must be available for Day & Weekend Shifts
  • Must be able to respond and intervene to all emergency situations
  • Must be able to conduct Patient Intake paperwork
  • Must be able to verify and obtain orders for patient medication
  • Must be able to conduct Sick Call clinic
  • Must be able to order and maintain supply of patient medication from pharmacy
  • Must be able to administer medications following nursing standards and correctional regulations
  • Must be able to complete and document ordered treatments, patient care, and collection ordered labs
  • Must be able to assist provider with Chronic Care Clinic and Provider sick call visit
  • Must be able to monitor for, report and document changes in patient's condition
  • Must be able to accurately document all patient information, nursing care and interventions
  • Must be able to ensure daily nursing tasks are completed within prescribed timeframe
  • Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Must be able to assist with training and orientation of new personnel
  • Must be able to follow QCHC policies, procedures & guidelines

Desired Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a correctional health care setting
