Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care for patients of all ages in a structured setting while adhering to Sanford's policies and procedures. Collaborate with physicians and inter-professional colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate care plans. Assess patient status through testing and interpret data to identify age-specific needs, ensuring appropriate medication management and treatment delivery. Perform duties within the scope of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and state licensure standards. Maintain current unencumbered LPN licensure and complete required departmental competencies, certifications, and annual continuing education units.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
  • Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility
  • If position requires IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing
  • Must be able to perform testing to assess data reflective of the patient's status and to interpret appropriately the information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to the age-specific needs
  • Must have knowledge of medications and their effects on patients
  • Must function within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure
  • Must adhere to the policies and procedures established by Sanford
  • Must collaborate with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles for the patient in the relevant clinical setting
  • Must possess the ability to provide the care needed
