Job Summary
Conduct practical nursing within the parameters of Carilion Clinics Plans for the Provision of Patient Care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician. Collect data, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while partnering with the RN. Participate in the nursing process for acute and chronic adults, communicate with team members and physicians, and contribute to the development of the patient database and interdisciplinary plan of care. Administer prescribed medications, advocate for patient rights, and provide psychological and social support. This 12-bed medical-surgical ICU utilizes Internal Medicine services caring for adults.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing
- Licensed to practice practical nursing in the state of Virginia
- de-escalation training successfully completed within four months of hire
- demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development
- possesses the ability to collect data reflective of the patient's status
- interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age and specific needs
- provides the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures
