Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife/Takeda supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. Works under the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and Center Physician guidance, with knowledge of plasma collection regulations and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) practices. Responsibilities include informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, reviewing SPE results, evaluating donor reactions, following SOPs for medical emergencies, and coordinating with the Center Physician/Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues. The role also supports employee vaccination programs and incident management, and may serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS. Required qualifications include state licensure as an LPN/LVN, CPR/AED, basic IV therapy training, FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist, and two years of clinical experience. The position offers Takeda/BioLife benefits and wage in the Humble, TX location.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of practice
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Basic IV therapy requirements
- FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
