Job Summary
Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability for plasma donation centers. Build rapport with donors to ensure customer satisfaction while evaluating and managing donor injuries and adverse events. Provide donor education regarding general health and counseling on unacceptable test results, ensuring continued donor suitability through history and medication reviews. Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine programs and assist in staff training. Maintain donor and staff confidentiality while assessing potential hazards. Work involves standing and sitting for up to four hours daily, with exposure to biological fluids, electrical equipment, and extreme cold below 32 degrees F. Requires current licensure as an RN, LPN, LVN, Paramedic, or EMT, plus CPR certification.
Required Qualifications
- EMT Basic, EMT Advanced, or Paramedic certification
- Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocation Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT licensure
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to work standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day
- Ability to bend and twist neck up from 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Ability to make precise coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects
- Frequent foot movement; ability to squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels
- Ability to walk, bend, and twist at the waist
- Light lifting of 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs
- Ability to reach below shoulder height
- Hearing acuity
- Color perception/discrimination
- Near vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
