Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. Coordinate care with other departments and ensure patient rights and confidentiality are upheld. Maintain a current LPN license and obtain required certifications such as BLS, ACLS, or PALS within specified timeframes. Perform duties involving lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing, and walking. Requires one year of LPN experience.
Required Qualifications
- one year LPN experience
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
- comparable education experience
- successful licensure
- current LPN license within the hiring state
- all State Board of Nursing requirements
- Licensed as an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) in the state of practice
- Life support certification current upon hire
- Life support certification in alignment with Mercy policy no later than 90 days after hire
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
- S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association
- BLS certification successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- IV Certification within 1 year of hire
- Other unit-specific certifications as required
- ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- prolonged standing and walking during each shift
- ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
