Job Summary
Provide clinical and administrative support under the direction of physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing supervisors. Effectively use the nursing process through data gathering, planning, and evaluation to assist providers with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments. Communicate professionally with patients, families, and co-workers while documenting care and following up on lab results. Maintain a clean, safe environment by sterilizing equipment and adhering to infection control protocols. Respond to patient inquiries and float to other clinics as needed. Maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, and credentials while complying with established policies.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursing
- An active and unrestricted license to practice in the state of Louisiana as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- BLS certification
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Interpersonal skills and compassion
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
- Analyzing information, critical thinking, and problem solving
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer
- Frequent use of hands, wrists, and fingers to provide patient care and operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment
- Frequently move about the clinic and facility to access various departments and patient care areas
- Frequently position self, such as bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, or twisting to retrieve and maintain equipment, assist patients, provide patient care, etc
- Ability to communicate information accurately so others will understand
- Ability to hear and respond to telephone calls, alarms, and normal office conversations
- Visual acuity sufficient to read medication labels, printed documents, computer screens, and handwritten materials
- Frequently move, lift, push, or pull etc items such as wheelchairs, boxes, equipment, patients, etc weighing up to 50 pounds for various needs
- Ability to adapt to rapid change in a positive manner throughout the day as the needs of the clinic change
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by sterilizing equipment, reporting unsafe/hazardous conditions, and defective equipment
- Adheres to all clinic infection control, hazardous waste, and pharmacy protocols
- Maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials
- Comply with organizational and departmental established policies and procedures
- Attend required organizational educational in-service meeting and departmental functions
- Float to other clinics as needed
