Job Summary
Prepare patient office visits by organizing test results, reports, and order entries for clinician review. Perform focused nursing assessments and triage for routine conditions, recognizing when to defer complex cases to RNs. Administer medications via multiple routes, manage wound care, and assist with minor surgical procedures and diagnostic tests. Maintain equipment, clean rooms, and document all care using KP HealthConnect and standardized tools like SBAR. Manage patient schedules, answer incoming messages, and coordinate follow-up duties including referrals and test reminders. Provide health education on procedures and self-care, while responding to urgent demands and assisting with medical emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Practical Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire OR Compact License: Practical Nurse within 6 months of hire
- Practical Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire
- Basic Life Support
- Demonstrated clinical nursing skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills
- Demonstrated communication (written and oral) skills
- Demonstrated literacy in using computers and keyboarding
- Skills in problem-solving, setting priorities and using good judgment for decisions
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure
- Two (2+) years of nursing experience in assigned departments clinical area (e.g. Pediatrics, FP/IM, OB/Gyn, Surgery, Allergy, Dermatology, Urology, etc.) within an ambulatory care setting
- IV therapy experience or recent certification
- Familiarity in documenting in an electronic medical record system
- Current working knowledge and clinical skills in providing routine care, education and advice in assigned departments clinical area OR successful completion of appropriate competencies for assigned primary/specialty care department
- Dermatology experience preferred
