Job Summary
Coordinate nursing care for residents by assigning nurse aides, performing nursing assessments, and documenting changes in status. Administer and document medications and treatments according to physician orders, including wound care, urinary catheterization, and oxygen care. Order medications from the pharmacy, account for narcotics, and respond promptly to resident pain intervention requests. Requires a current LPN license, CPR certification, and preference for two years in long-term care. Full-time role in Osage Beach, MO with a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a current state license to practice as a licensed practical nurse (LPN)
- Current CPR certification
- Demonstrates knowledge of basic nursing practice
- Interest in gerontological nursing
- Must be able to coordinate the nursing care of residents on the unit
- Must be able to provide safe and accurate Medication related interventions to residents
- Must be able to administer and document medications and treatments according to each resident's medication schedule
- Must know the rational for the effect of medications and treatments
- Must be able to provide treatments per the physician order including wound care, urinary catheterization, oxygen care, tracheostomy care
- Must be able to order and receive medications from the pharmacy
- Must be able to conduct an accurate accounting of all narcotics
- Must be able to promptly respond to resident requests for pain intervention and document such in the resident record
- Must be able to accurately transcribe and coordinate the implementation of physician orders
- Must be able to perform nursing assessments regarding the health status of residents
- Must be able to notify the physician of changes in status and promptly implement and document new orders
- Must be able to prepare work assignment sheets taking into consideration resident safety
- Must be able to report staff shortages to nursing management
- Must be able to participate and communicate employee actions that may result in reward or discipline
- Must be able to provide basic medical attention to patients
- Must be able to assess patient wellbeing
- Must demonstrate patience
- Must demonstrate compassion
- Must have a desire to care for the elderly in a gentle and empathetic manner
- Must be located in Osage Beach, MO
Desired Qualifications
- Additional certification in nursing specialty
- 2 years' experience in a long-term care setting
- Basic computer skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records
