Job Summary
Provide holistic nursing care to incarcerated patients under registered nurse direction, administering medications, vital signs, and treatments while monitoring patient progress and documenting symptoms. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care through individualized treatment plans, communication, and adherence to federal and state regulations. Maintain accountability for controlled substances, participate in continuous quality improvement activities, and coordinate closely with security staff while delivering nonjudgmental care. Recognize signs requiring additional expertise and report to appropriate team members.
Required Qualifications
- Valid LPN license in applicable state
- Current tuberculosis documentation
- Active CPR certification
- Must be able to lift, carry, or push weight up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to respond quickly to emergency situations within his/her scope of practice
- Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable
Desired Qualifications
- One year of work experience as a LPN preferred
- Experience in a correctional environment preferred
