Job Summary
Deliver direct patient care including IV therapy under the direction of a Registered Nurse within the framework of the Licensed Practical Nurse Act. Effectively use the Nursing Process for data gathering, planning, and evaluation while providing care based on physical, psycho-social, and safety criteria. Communicate professionally with patients, family members, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality experiences, adapting to rapid changes in unit needs. Manage personal professional development, maintain clinical credentials, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and Ochsner Health System standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with and maintaining confidential information
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Current LPN License in the state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Excellent organizational skills
- Good time management skills and self directed
- Good Judgement
- Good interpersonal skills
- Delegation skills
- Ability to effectively use the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care through data gathering, planning and evaluation
- Ability to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all patients, guests, family members and co-workers to ensure a quality patient experience
- Ability to adapt to rapid change in a positive manner throughout the day as needs of the unit / department change
- Ability to manage personal professional development and maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials
- Ability to remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility
- Ability to comply with the Ochsner Health System Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct
- Ability to report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
- Ability to handle exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Ability to work in a patient care area

- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally
- Ability to exert 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently
- Ability to exert 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree
- Ability to push and/or pull of arm or leg controls
- Ability to work at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials
- Residence in and willingness to work on-site (not eligible for remote work if residing in Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, or Washington D.C.)
