Job Summary
Under direction of the RN and medical orders, provides direct and indirect nursing care in an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include reviewing and preparing medical records, initiating follow-up, preparing orders, observing and documenting patient information, administering treatments, immunizations, medications, and point-of-care testing, communicating results to practitioners, and collaborating to revise care plans. Responsibilities also cover vaccine management and inventory (VFC/HHS guidelines), education materials for patients, infection control, care coordination, and staff training. Must maintain licensure as an Hawaii-licensed Practical Nurse and hold current BLS certification; requires knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA/JCAHO standards and clinic protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (Hawaii) required at hire
- Hawaii State Board of Nursing approved curriculum for LPN licensure
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
- OHS only: Certification in Spirometry, Hearing Conservation, & Substance Abuse Specimen Collection or acquire certification within one year of hire
