Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care for assigned orthopedic, stroke, and neurological patients under RN supervision. Maintain professional accountability for patient care, coordinate care with other departments, and uphold patient rights and confidentiality. Obtain and maintain a current LPN license, and acquire required certifications such as ACLS, PALS, BLS, and LPN-IV within specified timeframes. Perform duties requiring lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing, and walking during each shift. Work on a 24-bed unit supported by educators, respiratory therapists, and case managers, with opportunities to receive NIH Stroke Certification.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
- Current LPN license within the hiring state
- Meeting all State Board of Nursing requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
- S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- LPN-IV Certification must be previously completed or successful completion of course within 3 months of hire for LPNs in Missouri
