Job Summary
Provide general nursing care to individuals in Residential Services by administering prescribed medications, monitoring vital signs, and responding to life-saving situations based on nursing protocols. Explain procedures to clients to gain cooperation, maintain their comfort and safety, and assist with personal care responsibilities including diet, bathing, and physical transfers. Conduct individualized medical trainings for staff, complete annual medical assessments, and serve as a liaison between DDS, Day Program, and families regarding medical care. Participate in on-the-job training and provide coaching to new co-workers while performing additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Current LPN License
- Minimum of one year related experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and the internet
- Successful completion of all state and agency mandated trainings including medication administration rules and regulations
- Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release of information concerning Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC), Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and other agencies
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Must be fluent in English
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
