Job Summary
Organize shift assignments to evenly divide workload among staff based on qualifications and facility layout. Assign aides to patients, specify break times, and closely supervise their completion of duties. Administer parental, intramuscular, and subcutaneous injections while overseeing medication preparation and administration. Conduct meaningful rounds of all patients, verify health care plans, and chart according to MDS policy and procedures. Supervise serving of prescribed diets and fluid intake, ensure accurate documentation of all treatments, and detect situations with high probability of causing resident injuries. Recognize significant changes in resident condition, take necessary action, and report unresolved problems to the Director of Nursing.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of slate approved school of vocational or professional nursing
- Must have successfully completed state board of registration or licensure and carry a current state license
- Must be willing and able to assume charge of personnel assigned to his/her area
- Have working knowledge of all residents under his/her care
- Be able to work well with others and overlook personal preferences where the good of all is concerned
- Use of initiative and good judgment
- Awareness of the needs and desires of others
