Job Summary
Follow the lesson plans of the absent teacher and ensure optimal, engaging learning for students by assigning classwork and homework as prescribed. Employ instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting lesson objectives while maintaining a positive learning environment and managing classroom behavior to ensure progress toward daily goals. Supervise students outside the classroom in hallways, at lunch, recess, and during drop off and pick up if required. The role involves carrying out classroom procedures set forth by the teacher in an engaging way to ensure a quality learning experience for all children in the Lower School or Middle School.
Required Qualifications
- Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Must have an audible voice and adequate hearing and vision in order to supervise the students, both indoors and outdoors
- Sufficient mobility and agility needed to interact with children
- Must have the physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead
Desired Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and teaching experience are preferred
- Ability to develop rapport with students and exhibits enjoyment in working with students
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrate computer literacy and proficiency
- High -energy and enthusiastic about working in an academic atmosphere with both adults and children
