Job Summary
Lower School Dean of Students to lead behavior management and SEL integration across the Lower School; responsibilities include overseeing school-wide behavior expectations, partnering with the SEL team on interventions, implementing Responsive Classroom-based systems, serving as primary point of contact for classroom management support, mentoring faculty on classroom management and inclusive practices, fostering a joyful, safe school culture, and communicating with families. Requires a Master’s degree in a related field, at least 5 years in elementary education with leadership in behavior systems, knowledge of proactive interventions and Responsive Classroom, strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, and solid executive functioning for follow-ups and logistics.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Special Education, School Leadership, School Psychology/Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in an elementary education setting, with a track record of leadership in school-wide and student behavior systems
- Deep knowledge of proactive interventions and the Responsive Classroom approach (training preferred)
- Exceptional ability to collaborate with diverse teams, from teachers to SEL specialists, to school leadership, and to build high-trust relationships with families
- Strong executive functioning skills with the ability to manage complex follow-ups and logistics with precision
