Job Summary
Lowboy Driver responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer to transport heavy construction equipment, load and secure gear, perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintain trip logs, and coordinate schedules with project managers and equipment operators. Must comply with state and federal regulations, wear PPE, and perform basic truck/trailer maintenance. Extensive travel may be required; duties include loading/unloading at job sites, accurate documentation of hours, mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance, and clear communication to team members.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A CDL with Tank endorsement
- Valid DOT Med Cert with Non-Excepted Interstate self-certification
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating lowboy trailers and transporting heavy equipment preferred
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and best practices for equipment transport
- Ability to operate equipment during loading and unloading processes
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Basic mechanical skills for minor truck and trailer maintenance
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to read, understand and navigate using paper and/or digital maps
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
