Job Summary
The Low Voltage Systems Designer & Estimator develops detailed technical designs and cost estimates for low-voltage, fiber optic, security, AV, and network infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include creating system layouts, performing material takeoffs, and supporting the estimating team with technical guidance. Ideal candidates have a strong background in telecommunications design and estimating, along with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in low-voltage, fiber optics, structured cabling, security, or similar industries
- Strong knowledge of BICSI standards, fiber types, splicing, and termination methods
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and riser diagrams
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Desired Qualifications
- BICSI certification (TECH, INST1/2, or RCDD)
- Experience creating CAD or Visio-based design drawings
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and bid management tools
- Understanding of network fundamentals (PoE, VLANs, IP addressing, switches)
