Job Summary
Lead Technician for low-voltage cabling coordinating on-site projects in data-center and commercial construction environments. Supervises 5+ technicians, plans manpower and materials, sets crew objectives, tracks progress, communicates with management and customers, and ensures HR/safety/compliance while meeting deadlines. Maintains technical and quality standards, oversees account coordination and direct customer interaction, and reports project status. Requires expertise in cabling standards, blueprint reading, data/voice troubleshooting with Fluke testers, and installation/configuration of network gear. Works with CAT5/6/6A/COAX, fiber, 66/110 blocks, and power tools; must be able to lift 50 pounds; able to work 2nd/3rd shift with overtime; background check, drug screen, and physical required. Driver’s license and English proficiency required. Certifications such as BICSI Technician, OSHA 10, and other installation credentials are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Experience supervising crews of 5+ technicians
- Expertise in cabling standards and project planning
- Reading blueprints; timesheet management; communication skills
- Terminate jacks, patch panels, 66/110 blocks; follow 568A/B color codes
- Use Fluke testers for voice/data troubleshooting
- Install and configure switches, routers, modems, wireless access points
- Work with category cable, COAX, fiber (RG6, RG11, RG59); build out closets; operate Hilti tools
- Ability to lift/carry/setup 50 pounds; use power tools
- Must pass a 7-year background check, drug screen, and physical
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- English proficiency
- Preferred certifications (not required): BICSI Technician, OSHA 10, Powder Actuated Tools, Confined Space, CPR/First Aid, other installation certifications
- High School diploma, Associate’s degree or technical degree a plus
