Loss Mitigation Underwriter

Job Summary
Evaluate loans for eligibility under various loss mitigation options, including repayment plans, modifications, and short sales. Review borrower packages, identify deficiencies, and issue approval or adverse action notices in compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines. Perform escrow analyses, pro forma calculations, and maintain accurate records in internal systems while monitoring metrics to achieve workout-to-portfolio ratio goals. Mentor junior underwriters and collaborate with Mortgage Specialists to resolve documentation issues efficiently. Provide training and support management in implementing process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of loan workout options, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Advanced analytical and decision-making skills with a high level of accuracy
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities
- Proficiency in loan servicing systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3–5 years of underwriting or loss mitigation experience
- In-office position (not eligible for remote work)
