Loss Control Consultant

Job Summary

Conduct commercial insurance loss control inspections by driving to insured locations, taking photos, measuring structures, and observing interior and exterior facilities. Identify building construction types, square footage, potential hazards, and ISO classes while noting business operations to determine insurance exposures. Coordinate onsite inspection meetings with insured representatives and prepare detailed underwriting reports, diagrams, and photo uploads via our website. Complete assignments and review findings for accuracy according to carrier-specific requirements and due dates. Travel to and from locations, with some overnight trips required, while maintaining regular communication with the Field Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with other Loss Control Service Providers or Major Insurance Carriers
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial insurance lines - primarily Property, General Liability and Inland Marine
  • Ability to identify building construction and ISO classes
  • Broad understanding of NFPA codes
  • Solid communication and time management skills
  • Exceptional writing ability, organizational skills and computer skills
  • Ability to work from home with a PC, high-speed internet connection and a cell/smart phone
  • An automobile and valid driver's license, with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to climb a ladder up to 6 feet
  • Digital camera or smart phone with picture capability
  • Measuring wheel, or similar tool, and camera pole
  • Must be able to drive to locations
  • Must be able to take photos
  • Must be able to visually observe the interior and exterior of facilities
  • Must be able to note business operations
  • Must be able to determine insurance exposures
  • Must be able to identify potential improvements
  • Must be able to document findings in an insurance underwriting report
  • Must be able to complete assignments/reports according to due dates
  • Must be able to communicate regularly with Field Manager
  • Must be able to coordinate the time and date of the inspection meeting the insured representative onsite
  • Must be able to prepare and report inspection results
  • Must be able to upload photos
  • Must be able to prepare diagrams
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
