Job Summary
Assist the Site Coordinator in planning, developing, and implementing daily classroom activities for after-school programs at local schools. Lead face-to-face sessions, prepare materials, and provide weekly lesson plans while maintaining records of attendance and arrival times. Deliver daily activity information to each participant's parent and ensure a safe environment by enforcing rules, applying positive behavior interventions, and supervising children. Attend all meetings, trainings, and program planning sessions scheduled by the Office of Extended Learning. Maintain regular on-time, in-person attendance and work in a licensed childcare setting under MiLEAP guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-year childcare or youth-related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Prior to working with scholars in a structured program setting, must complete MiLEAP (PA116) mandated requirements
- Comprehensive Childcare Background Check (CCBC) including fingerprinting by MiLEAP approved agencies
- Obtain CCBC eligibility to work in a licensed childcare facility
- Complete MiRegistry Health and Safety Online Modules A, B, C and Transportation or annual Health and Safety Refresher Course; submit learning record transcript to Office of Extended Learning upon completion
- Module A MUST be completed before working with scholars
- Obtain First Aid Certification and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) by MiLEAP approved agencies; submit ARC/AHA certificate/card to Office of Extended Learning upon completion
- Valid state issued ID
- Fingerprinting required by hiring agency
- Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry Check
- Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
- Ability and desire to work with elementary and/or middle school children
- Working knowledge of computers
- Reliable transportation
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
- Must be able to work outside for extended periods (up to the entire eight-hour shift) in all weather conditions
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing in the English language
- Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate
