Job Summary
Coastal Villages Longline is seeking a Longline Captain responsible for operating a Freezer Longliner off the western coasts of Washington and Alaska. The Captain will safely navigate the vessel, supervise crew, conduct safety drills, and manage vessel operations including maintenance and documentation. Candidates must have a current USCG License with STCW endorsements and significant experience in commercial fishing vessel operations, specifically in the Bearing Sea fishery. The role includes rigorous physical and mental demands, requiring effective communication and teamwork in challenging environments.
Required Qualifications
- Current USCG License with STCW endorsements
- Three years experience as Captain of a Freezer Longliner in the Bearing Sea fishery
- Five years as Captain on another Bering Sea commercial vessel
- Minimum of three years experience as a deckhand, bosun or mate on a commercial fishing vessel
- Ability to perform intermediate math
- Ability to read, speak, and write in English
Desired Qualifications
- Basic & Advanced Firefighting certification
- HAZWOPER certification
- Medical Care Provider certification
Additional Requirements
- Must pass a post-offer background check
- Must pass a drug test
- Must be willing to be away from home for extended periods
- Must be able to work in a cramped environment
