Job Summary
Long-Term Substitute Teacher required for 5th grade at Lyseth Elementary (Portland, ME) from August 31 to December 22, 2026. Plans and delivers appropriate learning experiences, fosters intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development, supervises students in multiple settings, monitors and evaluates outcomes, communicates with students, families, staff and community, selects and adapts instructional materials to meet diverse needs, maintains records, and follows procedures. The role includes co-teaching and structured literacy approaches (e.g., Orton-Gillingham via IMSE), integration of technology, and collaboration with literacy and math coaches and a Special Education Coordinator within Portland Public Schools’ equity-focused framework.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university
- Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization
- Maine State Teacher Certificate with Endorsement 020 (General Elementary, K-6 or K-8)
