Job Summary
Teach assigned classes in middle or high schools at designated times and locations while implementing the District's instructional goals. Develop lesson plans incorporating Higher Order Thinking, Engagement, and Technology, and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and policies while managing student behavior and assisting with co-curricular activities. Maintain accurate records including daily attendance, grading, and student progress files. Provide models for responsible citizenship and seek specialist assistance for students with learning difficulties.
Required Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in the subjects required for a particular teaching assignment
- Appropriate certification for the particular teaching assignment as approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Student teaching experience
- Other experiences educating youth
- Current clearances as per Acts 34 and 151
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write reports, school correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, students, and/or the general public
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variable in standardized situations
