Job Summary
Conduct occupational therapy evaluations for special education eligibility and develop Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. Deliver direct and consultative services in classrooms, cafeterias, and playgrounds to address fine motor skills, sensory processing, and functional independence. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and specialists to integrate therapeutic strategies, recommend adaptive equipment, and facilitate student transitions. Contribute to IEP meetings, progress reporting, and documentation compliant with IDEA and Section 504. Maintain current knowledge of best practices through professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Valid Occupational Therapy License issued by the Rhode Island Department of Health
- Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and best practices in school-based occupational therapy
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in school settings and knowledge of IEP processes
- Strong collaboration and consultation skills with multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with assistive technology, sensory integration, and fine motor/visual motor programming
- Understanding of trauma-informed practices, behavioral supports, and inclusive education
