Job Summary
Long Term Substitute Language Arts Teacher for 7th grade at East Haven Public Schools. Requires CT Teaching Certificate in English and a BA (MA preferred) in English. Responsibilities include creating an instructional environment to develop students’ English content knowledge and skills, implementing research-based practices, using a variety of assessments and analyzing data to drive instruction, communicating with students, parents and staff, adapting instruction to meet diverse learner needs, developing and revising curriculum and assessments aligned with district initiatives, and contributing to school improvement. Salary is $140 per day from day 1–40, increasing to $295.35 per day starting day 41, with no benefits; reports to Building Principal; equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- CT Teaching Certificate in English (Endorsement 015 or 026)
- BA (preferred MA) from an accredited college or university in English or equivalent
- Long Term Substitute Language Arts Teacher-7th Grade
- Experience with Common Core Standards and literacy instruction
- Ability to develop curriculum and assessments
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Differentiation for diverse learners
- Technology integration in instruction
- Data-driven instruction and assessment
- Effective communication with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
- Reporting to Building Principal
