Job Summary
Implement age-appropriate music curriculum for grades K-4, teaching basic theory, vocal techniques, and instrumental skills through interactive lessons. Foster a positive classroom environment while organizing performances, concerts, and events, including rehearsals and preparation. Assess student progress, collaborate with classroom teachers for interdisciplinary learning, and maintain classroom materials and instruments. Engage with parents and the community to promote the music program. This position may require occasional evening and weekend commitments. Submit a Liberty Local Schools application, a letter of interest, and a resume to Natalie Wright, BOE Administrative Assistant, at the Board of Education Office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification or licensure in music education (or the eligibility to obtain one)
- Experience working with young children, preferably in a classroom setting
- Strong knowledge of music theory, vocal performance, and various musical styles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to foster a positive learning environment and adapt lessons to meet diverse student needs
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage with students and staff for extended periods
- Must remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with classroom management and differentiated instruction
- Familiarity with current music education technology and resources
- Background in performance (vocal, instrumental, or both)
