Job Summary

Instruct children in prescribed curriculum disciplines while modeling responsible citizenship within a democratic society. Adhere to all federal, state, local, and district laws, rules, statutes, and policies. Implement district philosophy and instructional goals through varied techniques, incorporating higher-order thinking, engagement, authentic connections, and technology. Develop and maintain classroom environments conducive to learning, prepare lesson plans, and establish behavior rules to ensure order. Direct teacher assistants and volunteers, assist in selecting textbooks and materials, and participate in faculty meetings and committee planning. Maintain accurate records, including daily attendance and grading, and communicate progress with students and parents. Provide support for educational purposes outside instructional hours when requested. Protect students, equipment, and facilities by securing instructional materials and reporting damage or loss. Assist in screening students for awards and develop criteria for curriculum evaluation. Grow professionally through workshops, seminars, and advanced coursework. Assume responsibility for students during field trips or when teachers are away. Perform duties as assigned by the building principal, including homeroom and playground responsibilities.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write reports, school correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, students, and/or the general public
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variable in standardized situations
