Job Summary
Deliver comprehensive lesson plans in Social Studies or ELA aligned with grade curriculum and state standards while creating and maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment. Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, and projects, providing constructive feedback and adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs. Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and communicate effectively with parents and staff regarding academic and behavioral expectations. Manage classroom behavior and implement strategies to foster respect among students. Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as needed. This long-term substitute role covers the 2026-2027 school year, with candidates encouraged to apply in either field.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, Reading/ELA or a related field
- Valid teaching certification or ability to obtain
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans and utilize various teaching methods
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create a positive classroom culture that supports diverse learners
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage with students and staff for extended periods
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with differentiated instruction and personalized learning strategies
- Experience with classroom management and differentiated instruction
- Familiarity with current Social Studied and/or ELA standards, curriculum, technology, and resources
