Job Summary
Mine Planning Engineer to develop and optimize integrated mine plans at the Albian oil sands site, collaborating with operations, geotechnical, geology, tailings, and regulatory teams to support strategic mine development. Responsibilities include overseeing mine design projects (pit walls, haul roads, dumps, dyke structures), leading life-of-mine planning and regulatory submissions, maintaining mining models, reporting on performance metrics, and driving value optimization through adherence to engineering standards. Requires a degree in Mining, Civil, or Geological Engineering, EPEGA registration eligibility, a minimum of 5 years in open-pit mining or oil sands, and experience with Vulcan, Deswik, and CAD. Also requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license. Shift: 5x2, 8-hour shifts in Calgary, Alberta; safety-sensitive role with relocation consideration per policy.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mining, Civil, or Geological Engineering
- Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in open-pit mining or oil sands operations
- Experience with mine design software such as Vulcan, Deswik, and CAD
- Strong understanding of fleet management, oil sands geology, mine planning, and mining economics
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license with no driving restrictions
